My group finished our German movie! With puppets! It's a lot of inside jokes from our class, but you might find it funny.
Schauen Sie!

Dreaming in German
So I had this crazy Spanish teacher in 10th grade, Mr. Greenberg. One day I walk into class and he asks me, "Have you started dreaming in Spanish yet?" Obviously I answered negatively and he asked me to let him know when I started having dreams in Spanish.
I never thought I would have a dream in another language, but last night it happened.
All I remember is hearing a lady say, "Schleißen Sie!" Which means "close it!" and the fact that I understood. But the more important part is that the impossible happened last night.
Sorry Mr. Greenberg.

Carol of Joy

Green leaves all fallen, withered and dry;
Brief sunset fading, dim winter sky.
Lengthening shadows, Dark closing in,
Then, through the stillness, carols begin!
Oh fallen world, to you is the song--
Death holds you fast and night tarries long.
Jesus is born, your curse to destroy!
Sweet to your ears, a carol of Joy!
Pale moon ascending, solemn and slow;
Cold barren hillside, shrouded in snow;
Deep, empty valley veiled by the night;
Hear angel music--hopeful and bright!
Oh fearful world, to you is the song--
Peace with your God, and pardon for wrong!
Tidings for sinners, burdened and bound--
A carol of joy! A Savior is found!
Earth wrapped in sorrow, lift up your eyes!
Thrill to the chorus filling the skies!
Look up sad hearted--witness God's love!
Join in the carol swelling above!
Oh friendless world, to you is the song!
All Heaven's joy to you may belong!
You who are lonely, laden, forlorn--
Oh fallen world!
Oh friendless world!
To you,
A Savior is born!
Even though this is usually sung at Christmas, it is all I can think about on this Easter day. I hope you enjoy the words and music as much as I do! I am deeply grateful for the gift of the Savior. I am overwhelmed by the peace, courage, forgivness, guidance, knowlege, opportunities, challenges, joy and love He offers me, even though I am so undeserving. He is truly my best friend because when all the world fails me, Jesus Christ is always by my side. I know He lives. I know He loves all of us. I know He is the way, the truth, and the life. Thanks be to God for this matchless gift!
John 16:33
"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye may have peace. Inthe world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

Draper Temple Open House
Yesterday morning I had the opportunity to attend the Draper temple open house. It was absolutely amazing! I think the last time I went to a temple open house was when I was 14 or 15, and I didn’t appreciate it as much as I should have. The temple was absolutely gorgeous, but the best part was the Spirit I felt in there. Even though it hasn’t been dedicated yet, the Spirit is so strong, and you just know that it is a Holy place. I loved the Bride's room and the muraled instruction rooms. The Spirit was so powerful, and it strengthened my desire to one day go to a House of the Lord and receive the fullness of the Priesthood ordinances. It made me yearn to learn as much about my Heavenly Father and His gospel as I possibly can.
But my favorite part was the sealing rooms. The spirit was so beautiful and so strong that I couldn’t stop crying! I can't wait to go with a righteous young man into a sealing room just like that and make covenants with the Lord that will enable us to reach the Celestial Kingdom. I can't wait to start my own family who will be sealed to me for time and all eternity. I can't wait to learn and grow on the path to Godhood. These are the things that I long for the most, and I will work every day on following the Lord so I can receive them.
I am so grateful for the gospel and righteous parents who have led me towards the Holy Temple. I'm so grateful that I get to be with them for all eternity! The gospel is amazing :]

Mission Call

My best friend Brian got his mission call yesterday... He will be serving in the Ukraine Dnepropetrovsk Mission! (It's pronounced Neenya-propa-trovsk. The D is silent!) He will be speaking Russian and he goes into the MTC on June 3. I am excited for him to serve! He will be the best missionary.

Congratulations Brian! I am so proud of you!

Family History, I am doing it!

I had the best Valentine's day ever. I felt went to the temple with Brian, and it was so wonderful! When we were walking there it was snowing harder than I've ever seen before, but it worked out well because it took us only 1 1/2 hours instead of the usual 3 hours it is on Saturdays. And when we were done, the sun was out! Brian said that Satan must have been trying to stop us from getting to the temple, but once we got inside he just gave up. hah :]
But the really awesome part was that Brian was baptized and confirmed for his great-grandfather. I'm not related to John Adolf Anderson, but I felt the Spirit so powerfully and peacefully as Brian did his work. There was also a sweet, humble Mexican couple ahead of us doing baptisms for his grandparents. There was just so much love in there - perfect for Valentine's day! What better way to show love for our ancestors and our Heavenly Father than to serve in the Holy Temple?
Brian is such an example to me. He decided this week that he was wasting too much time on things that don't matter, and that now he's going to give those things up for things that are productive. So Friday afternoon I was hanging out in their apartment, and while Brian's roommates were playing games on facebook, Brian found 4 generations of his ancestors online! And let me tell you, Brian had a lot more joy than his roommates did! I'm going to try to do the same thing. As a ward family history consultant, I am developing a deep love for genealogy and hope to be able to do much good. I'm still learning the ropes, but that's what eternity is for, right? I've found 7 names on my dad's side and hope to do the baptisms for them this week. Next, I want to work on my mom's side, especially the ancestors from Lithuania. There is a lot of work to be done with them. Oh, how the Spirit of Elijah is burning inside me!

What do I want to be when I grow up?

A BYU folk dancer.
I went to folk dance rec night last night, and had the TIME OF MY LIFE!!! I didn't know all of the dances, but it was so fun just to try to pick them up. I don't know if I've ever seen so much joy collected in one room before!
It was also really inspiring. I feel like this is something the Lord wants me to spend my time on, something that would be fun and good exercise and would help me make some really good, lasting friendships. And I have a passion to learn it. So I'm going to try out for the Folk Dance team next year, and we'll see what happens!

What's new in life?
Hello to anyone that reads this, or just to the void.
Life is officially getting busy. I've been doing schoolwork, working extra hours, going to the temple once a week, and I got a new calling! I'm a family history consultant for my ward! I am team teaching a FH class and am just supposed to help whoever needs it. I taught the first lesson today and it went pretty well...other than running out of material 20 minutes before church let out. Oops! It went well though, and lots of people came to the class, which made really pleased. I have such good and supportive friends.
We are continuing to practice for our stake performance "From Cumorah's Hill" which will be put on on Feb 22. It is awesome material, and it will be fantastic! I love the songs and getting to sing with others in my stake.
So I put that picture up there on my blog because 1. It's beautiful and I love it and 2. I wanted to brag about how awesome my best friend is. I've been freaking out this week with all the stuff I've had to do, and Brian is always there to bring peace back into my life. It is such a blessing to have him to remind me of the eternal perspective, but also for me to be able to help him when he needs it. I will miss him when he goes on his mission in the summer, but I am mostly excited because he's gonna be the best missionary EVER!!!
Well, as they say in You've Got Mail, "Goodnight, dear void."

One Year Ago
One year ago today, the Lord gave me an incredible blessing.
On January 24, 2008 I found out that I was accepted to BYU.
I had been waiting for about 6 weeks to hear back from BYU. I was really really nervous that I wouldn't get in. Finally on the 24th, the admissions office called asking what my Fall 2007 GPA was. I didn't know. They told me that if it was a 3.5 or higher I was in, but if my GPA was any lower, I would not be accepted. Needless to say, I was terrified. They told me that my acceptance status would be posted online the next day.
I was in the other room with my mom, doing homework, when she told me I should check online to see if anything had changed. I didn't think it had, but I checked anyway. And then I saw this:

I screamed and laughed and cried all at once! It was one of the happiest moments of my life. The Lord allowed one of my dearest dreams to come true. Throughout the hard times in high school, I held onto the hope that someday I would be able to go to BYU and be around more people who shared my values. What a blessing that has been for me! I am able to study and grow with others who share my faith. Their faith and examples inspire me. I am able to live near some of my closest friends instead of having to keep in touch with them over the phone and internet. I am able to go to a school where learning by the Spirit is the priority. I am able to become closer to Him through each of my classes - whether it be Doctrine and Covenants, Art History, German, or Choir. I am so blessed to be here at BYU, and I know that it is where the Lord wants me to be because without His perfect planning, I would not be here.
Thank you, Heavenly Father.
